Fruit Isn't as Healthy as You May Think

We’ve been led to believe that fruit is healthy, but it’s still used as sugar in the body, just as pastries and cake, and does the same thing to your body, but only worse.

Because the main sugar in fruit is fructose, which is not processed into glucose as other sugars, but processed by the liver where it is converted into triglycerides and uric acid.

When we eat sugar, we get a rise in insulin which stores the glucose and this will cause a release in leptin (tells your brain you’re full and acts like an appetite suppressant), but fructose doesn’t do this because it’s processed differently, your brain doesn’t get the signal to stop eating.

This causes weight gain, high triglycerides, gout, and non-alcohol fatty liver disease, all of which are really bad for your aging self.

So, if you really want to consume fruit, the best ones are unripe tropical fruits with are much lower in fructose then all the others – green bananas, plantains, mango and papaya.

Not only are they low in fructose but they are made up of resistant starches which are prebiotics for your friendly neighborhood gut bacteria so consuming them in small quantities should be ok, unless you have any issue caused by the consumption of sugar – insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, diabetes, heart disease, etc. fruit, even these unripe fruits, should not be a part of your life.
