Get Off the Yo-Yo Diet Rollercoaster

We live in a society that “wants it now!”, but unfortunately, we can’t have everything now, and in some cases it’s better to not have it now.

And one of those cases is weight loss.

The diets that claim you can get in shape and lose weight in 3 months are not the healthiest way of doing it.

Yes, if you stick to the extremely regimented diet plan, you can lose weight and get in shape, but at what cost? You're going to gain weight and then try to lose it again.

Yo-yo dieting is a vicious, unhealthy cycle:

1. One in three people who do these extreme regimented plans ends up heavier than before they started.

2. Yo-yo dieting leads to an increased percentage of body fat and belly fat.

3. During weight loss diets, the body loses muscle mass as well as body fat which leads to decreased strength which is not what we want as we age.

4. Weight gain leads to fatty liver, which can lead to liver disease which is exacerbated by weight cycling

5. Yo-yo dieting has been shown to increase the risk of diabetes.

6. The risk of heart diseases increases with fluctuating weight, and the greater the change in weight, the greater the risk of heart disease.

7. Weight gain, including rebound weight gaining and yo-yo dieting increases blood pressure which can linger for years.

8. Yo-yo dieting is a cycle of temporary changes that produce temporary results

The healthiest way to lose weight is to control blood sugar levels because insulin is our fat storage hormone, and learn to eat in a way that supports and fits into your lifestyle in an underwhelming way.
